Luke 10:33-37
33 "But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 "And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 "And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, 'Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.'
36 "Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?'
37 "And he said, 'He that shewed mercy on him.' Then said Jesus unto him, 'Go, and do thou likewise.'"
When you come to a place in your life where you have been left along the side of the road and kicked to the curb rest assured that Jesus, the only begotten So of God, has your back. Don’t quit now. You are being prepared to finish your race with grace. Hallelujah.
Jesus gave to us a living testimony about a Good Samaritan; not a priest, and not a Levite, but a Samaritan! Do you understand that the Jews despised this race of people? Jesus used this "impossible race" as seen through the eyes of the people to show us the compassion that went beyond just talking the talk, but walked the walk. Praise God.
Look what he did: he bound up his wounds and took care of him. I pray that when I’m down and beaten God will send me a Good Samaritan to pick me up from the pits of despair and speak words of encouragement over me. Come to think of it, He has!
Father, this is my prayer, that this compassion, this love, that Jesus demonstrated to us here in Luke 10 will be worn by us like a robe. That it would become a living testimony of the lessons we learn from Your Holy Spirit every day. In Jesus's name, Amen.
Blessings on the journey, and remember that the best is yet to come.
