1 Corinthians 14:12
12 "Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.”
If the gifts of the Spirit are activated by the Holy Spirit as He wills, then how do we as believers walk in them? Since I received Jesus as my Savior it has always been my desire to walk with the Lord, but I seem to fall short of that a lot. However, I find that I have experienced all of the gifts that we have discussed so far. If I were to go by how good I am I would not be qualified to walk in any of them.
2 Timothy 2:19-21 (BSB)
19 "Nevertheless, God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord must turn away from iniquity.”
20 "A large house contains not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay. Some indeed are for honorable use, but others are for common use.
21 "So if anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor: sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work"
As we prepare to go to our annual outreach in New Orleans for Mardi Gras in February I have learned that if I would examine myself, and be quick to repent of anything that I might find hidden in my heart, then the trip will be successful.
Thank You, Father, that as believers we have been given access to the gifts of the Spirit and that through them we can share with others that you love and have mercy for them. This is a new year and a new day and we will, by Your grace, win this battle. In Jesus's name, Amen and Amen.
Blessings on the journey, and remember that the best is yet to come.
