Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)
5 "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
Here are five keys to contentment in any situation, including the most important secret of all:
1. I need to talk to my heart.
2. I need to live by the truths I hold instead of the feelings I feel.
3. I need to choose carefully the source of my hope.
4. I need to be anchored to unchangeable truth.
5. The secret is God.
In the world we live in, are we content, or are we dissatisfied and anxiously looking for more only to find ourselves unfulfilled? If you wanna be happy you must learn how to be content with what you have. God will always be with us. Hallelujah!
Testimony: while living in Missouri back in the early 1980s, my wife and I had fallen on some hard times. We had our electricity shut off for over three months during the coldest part of winter.
By the grace of God we were able to get an extension cord that ran to our house from my father's business. We had a Franklin wood-burning stove in the family room to heat the house. We had to learn to adjust to our circumstances. We drew really close to each other and it was the best three months of our lives. God met us at every turn and provided for us in miraculous ways.
We learned a valuable lesson on how to be content and happy in whatever state of mind we found ourselves in.
Father, thank You for being with us and providing for us by showing us how to be content and happy. You are our strength in times of trouble. In Jesus's name, Amen.
